My story

DOB 3/10/22

Hi! I’m Boots, and I’m an friendly, affectionate, outgoing, smart, and adventurous black and white tuxedo gal who really enjoys it when my foster meowmy holds me. In fact, when she scratches my head, ear, and chin or rubs my tummy, I turn my purr motor on the “high” setting. I was the runt of my litter, but I'm catching up fast!

I’ll curl up with her while she reads or watches TV, and my eyes will actually follow the action on TV. I like to snuggle with her in bed and “soft-paw” her cheek when it’s time to get up. When she puts me on her chest, I start purring when I hear her heartbeat.

I run to investigate “what’s happening,” where Foster Meowmy’s going, what she’s doing. I follow her around -- eager to “help” her clean out the litter box, sweep the floor, load the dishwasher, make the bed, or fold clothes.

I was rescued with my sister Carly from under the deck in a nice lady’s back yard. We were hiding from the neighbor’s dog, who managed to kill our sibling. This lady’s husband was allergic to us, so we we’re being fostered by her friend, who’s now our meowmy.

We like the resident orange tabby, who tolerates our hugging/ jumping on/ boxing with him as well as playing with his tail. Actually, our 'big brother' does his share of initiating play with us. We’ve only been around a cat-friendly dog once, and we were a little tentative, so we hid and/ or hissed; however, we’re curious and outgoing enough to probably do fine with a well-behaved dog.

Most of all, I love my sister Carly. Foster Meowmy is enchanted when I take her face in both my paws so I can kiss and lick her. We entertain Foster Meowy when we box each other while standing on our hind legs. And of course, we love to tear around the house chasing each other. We exhibit our athletic prowess by running, jumping, leaping, twisting around in mid-air, as well as somersaulting – often when Foster Meowmy flashes a laser light or dangles a wand toy. I'm the 'night owl' of the trio and love to explore new places to hide and nap. When we’re thoroughly exhausted, we collapse in a kitten puddle for a good, long catnap.

Carly and I are very, very bonded, and we think it’d be the cat’s meow if we could be adopted together. That way we could keep each other company when you’re at work or on vacation. If you’re looking for a bold, outgoing, clever, and smart kitten, I’m your gal! Arrange to meet me (and Carly, for that matter!) today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adopting an animal is a very serious decision and we want to be sure that our potential adoptive families have thought about the impact of this decision carefully. To adopt an animal through HOPE, we request that you complete an Adoption Application, a copy of which is available online for cats at or for dogs at You may fill it out online or print a copy of the application and complete it prior to arriving at an adoption session. This will expedite the adoption process and will also assist our adoption counselors in matching you to a suitable pet. We at HOPE make every effort to match our foster pets to appropriate homes. If you feel that we are too intrusive, please understand that it is because we care about their welfare. Fees All animals are neutered or spayed and have received age appropriate shots prior to being adopted. We ask that you provide a $100 donation for cats and a donation of $150 for dogs when you adopt your new family member from us. This donation helps us in defraying the costs of these and other medical needs of our animals.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to end the homelessness of cats and dogs through foster to adoption, feral cat Trap-Neuter-Return, and education. HOMELESS & ORPHANED PETS ENDEAVOR (HOPE) is an all-foster, no kill adoption group based in the Houston area. HOPE covers the cost of general medical expenses for the animals in the program, such as altering, routine vaccinations and treatment for parasites. Our foster families are asked to provide food, shelter and love to the animals for which they care. They receive no payment for the services that they provide. Without them, and the other volunteers who so selflessly do what is necessary to keep HOPE afloat, it would not be possible to run this nonprofit corporation. One aim of HOPE is to develop a network of area rescue and humane organizations which will facilitate the rescue and placement of a variety of animals. The goal is to never have to turn away an animal in need. By forming a coalition of humane and rescue groups in the Houston area, we could potentially place all animals who need a temporary home until they are placed into a permanent one.
