My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***NEEDS FUREVER HOME***
Currently in Idaho Falls, ID

This adorable, medium-sized, 2-year-old male, 51-lb Siberian Husky with the derpy look is NORBY.

NORBY is currently in an intense board-and-train foster situation where he is getting lots of experienced training to make him even more adoptable.

NORBY is fine with other dogs He is house-trained and crate-trained. He loves to play.

FROM THE TRAINER: "Norby is an absolute gem with dog friends. He has become more discerning and will tell the other dogs when he is done. This has never been more than a gentle correction from him which has been great to see him advocating for himself but not going overboard. After A LOT of monitoring and body blocking him from other dogs he has learned to give space when other dogs want or need it. He is still a bit pushy, but he is so much better already. Also he leaves the little dogs in the house alone 75% of the time now. Big strides. "

MORE FROM THE TRAINER:
Norby is working on loose-leash walking. He loves to sniff and explore. The positive is that he has shown that he knows when he hits the end of the leash and feels resistance he turns around and comes back to me. Next step is working on heel.

Norby has adjusted to freedom in the house really well. He is a model citizen and enjoys extra naps on the dog beds. He still will get into things if unsupervised so he has yet to stay out of his crate when I am out of the house.

Initially, Norby was parkouring off the furniture and anything he came up against. Now he can sit on an open chair without bouncing off walls to get up. He is now familiar with an off-command. It still requires me to reinforce with a gentle tug on his collar, but we are close to getting the association.

NORBY is still quite a distractable boy on walks, so the trainer is working on the goal of a loose-leash walk.

We are still struggling with him not peeing in his crate overnight or during nap times. He seems to not mind coexisting with his pee, so I am looking at options to address this.

NORBY is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped, so ready for his furever family.

Please fill out an easy, online application https://www.friendsfureveranimalrescue.com/adoption-application to meet NORBY. His trainer will be available for his furever family.

BACKGROUND: His owners never came for him during his stay at the Wendell Shelter, so FFAR rescued him from an uncertain fate. He was in a foster home for ~16 months, but not getting the training that he needs. He then went to a boarding kennel in Boise.
