My story

Zoey is looking for her forever home!I She is a phenomenal puppy. She listens very very well. She is well behaved in the house and is a snuggle bug. She loves to go off leash hiking with myself and friends and other dogs in the woods and yesterday she went for her first swim in the pond. She stays right with us and never hesitates for a moment when we call her to come. She would be an awesome pup for a young couple that wants to do hiking and activities and have a new family companion. She gets along super well with other dogs although she can be a bit overzealous trying to get them to play sometimes. But she is very respectful of any corrections. She is completely vetted and spayed and heart worm negative. She can be timid with new people and may take a few minutes to warm up but treats and walking help her get over that in minutes. She would do best in a home without small children who may startle or intimidate her. Older kids would be fine. She’s just under a year now and weighs only about 25 pounds. She is a beautiful terrier mix. She has a long, tall, slim dainty physique. If you are interested in an application, please email pawrescued2016@gmail.com or visit our website at https://sites.google.com/view/muddymoosemutts/home. Her adoption fee is $425.

Go meet their pets

We do NOT have a brick and mortar shelter. Our dogs are in a home environment awaiting adoption and all meet and greets will be scheduled after an application has been received. We frequently do adoption events in our local area and you can often find us at Torrington Petco, Waterbury PetSmart, Winsted Tractor Supply and Winsted Feed Store, showing off our gorgeous dogs! Check out our Facebook page for upcoming adoption events.

More about this rescue

Formerly Meade Canine Rescue New England, Muddy Moose Mutts became a new independent rescue in April 2017. In 2018, Muddy Moose Mutts saved over 150 dogs, many of which were on lists to be euthanized at the kill shelters they were in. Many came from local pounds as strays. Many were saved from Texas ahead of the hurricane. Many were abused, neglected, and malnourished. Many were owner surrenders where the owners had died or lost their home. All were in search of a new loving forever home. And that is where Muddy Moose Mutts stepped in. Each day, taking in a new dog with unknown issues, can lead to a drastic increase in our expenses. We do not discriminate against the dogs we rescue. We take in the young and the old, the healthy and the sick, and the unfriendly and the adorable. We are there for the dogs in need. We have treated dogs in need of surgery for bladder or kidney stones and mammary tumors, Cushing's disease, cancer, provided life-saving heartworm treatment, provided dental work for dogs with rotting teeth, provided long term hospice care, and worked with dogs in desperate need of human interaction and guidance. Most importantly, we provided these dogs with a loving and caring home environment while they waited for their forever homes. Please consider supporting our mission by checking out our adoptable dogs for your new best friend. If you are un-able to adopt, please consider a donation to help us help these deserving dogs.
