My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pasha von Pahl is a gorgeous, 9-10 month-old, long-haired German Shepherd mix. Although she comes out a little shy, as soon as you start petting her, she gets comfortable and shows you what a sweetie she is, even giving little kisses. Of medium energy, she walks nicely on leash. Dogs nearby on her walk? The more the merrier for Pasha! It’s a wonderful chance to socialize and join the group! On the gentle and submissive side, and eager to please, she loves being around both dogs and people. Pasha knows “Sit," is likely housebroken, takes treats gently, and does great in playgroups: she goes in calmly and curious, quickly proving herself the consummate greeter. Happy to meet every dog present, she socializes very nicely. This beauty’s name means ‘ruler' and, indeed, she is able and desirous to rule your heart. She'd just like to ask that her forever home have another friendly pup.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
