Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Trevor von Treffurt is a stunning, 4-5-year-old, black-and-red German Shepherd. A people-pleaser and very smart, this boy loves to lean into you and rub all over you just like a kitty does. Likely housetrained, Trevor is a gentle treat-taker with a list of commands that he's already mastered. At walk time, he starts out calmly and is a very good boy on his leash as he checks back often with his person. This mid-energy boy would be happiest as an only dog and he prefers not to live with cats. Trevor is looking for that close, special relationship -- just him and his people.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
