My story

My name is Mako. I am looking for someone who can be patient and kind with me.  I love to snuggle and take naps with you! I love running ahead of you to go into a room especially the bathroom. I love to climb on the tub and watch the water go down the toilet. I know I know but it swirls!!  I love to sleep under the blankets with my foster mom.

My foster mom adores me.  She is trying to help me not be so much of a cat. I don't hide. I am just set in my ways. I would like to be the King of my castle. Oh check out my Bob tail!! It is so cute and stubby. One of a kind I say!

If I don't like something I will tell you but don't over look me. You and I could be friends!! Especially if you like to have a warm cat on you!!

Their adoption process

1.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Take a peek at the animals we have available for adoption and find one you can't live without!

2.

Submit Application

You will not be able to meet one of our animals without having first completed an adoption application. We will review and vet check.

3.

Home Check

If you live too far for a home visit, we will ask you to submit a video tour of your home.

4.

Approve Application

If approved, you will receive an approval notification via e-mail. You will be contacted by the foster home to schedule a meet & greet.

5.

Meet the Pet

During your meet and greet Rescue Outreach will decide if you are a good fit for the animal- and if the animal is a good fit for you.

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

If everyone is a good fit, you will be able to adopt! Many times adoptions can take place the same day as your meet and greet!!

Additional adoption info

Adopters will complete an adoption application. If the application is accepted, you will then receive a telephone call for a phone interview. Once the phone interview is complete, if approved, an approval email is sent. Upon final approval, the foster will contact to set up a meet and greet!

Go meet their pets

Foster based means that we are NOT a shelter. All of our adoptable animals are kept in loving foster homes until their FUREVER family finds them! All of our foster homes have demonstrated they have what it takes to love an animal and ensure their adopter is an excellent fit. Our fosters are volunteers who open their hearts and their homes to shelter animals embarking on their journey of a second chance. Take comfort knowing your pet has been in a loving home acclimating to life outside of the shelter!

More about this rescue

We are a group of local rescuers working in collaboration with Starfish Animal Rescue to save the lives of cats and kittens in need. The shelter these felines are being rescued from is located in Hazard, Kentucky. This is a mountain city with HIGH kill rates and LOW adoption. Recently they were faced with having to EUTHANIZE over 60 cats and kittens in order to make room for new intake. In order to prevent this tragic occurrence, we reached out to Starfish Animal Rescue. Starfish works with local rescues to transport animals from these rural areas and bring them to safe, loving, rescues and homes. We have rescue experience and are working closely with Starfish to ensure all adoptable cats and kittens are vetted, healthy and go to loving homes.
