Asha was rescued in January 2022. Her previous owners other dog attacked her and tore open the side of her face. Exposing her jaw and tooth. The owner wasn’t sure when it happened exactly but best guess, she had been living in pain for a couple of months prior to being brought into the rescue.
Asha was brought to an emergency veterinarian in Houston. She had a severe infection and abscess. She has undergone a dental procedure to remove 2 teeth and 4 procedures to get her wound to heal. She was also HW + and is in the process of treatment. Due to her continuing care, she is only available for adoption in TX.
Asha is a 2 year old boxer/shepherd mix. Asha is described as a very sweet and gentle, but skittish. She isn’t interested in chew toys or playing but she goes crazy for treats and loves cuddles. She gets along with her foster siblings, although she's kind of standoffish. Asha is definitely more a people dog than a dog's dog if that makes sense. She follows her foster mom around literally everywhere, even trying to nudge her way in to the bathroom! Asha doesn't mind her kennel and will sometimes go in there on her own when she wants some separation from the other dogs.
Asha has been wonderful with her fosters kids, “especially my daughter who is calmer and gives more love than my son.” She is a bit intimidated by the fosters husband but never shows any sort of aggression, only avoidance.
She's smart and understands things like "all done" (for medicine/ treat time), "out" (potty time), "get" (as in get out of my kitchen 😆), "here" (not that she's usually far away!). We're working on "sit" and "stay" now.
Asha is currently in a loving foster home in TX and is currently available for TX adoption only.

Please submit an application instead of sending an inquiry even if you just have questions. Sending an inquiry will slow down the process, limit the ways that we can contact you and may send our reply email to your spam folder. Another application could be processed instead of yours for this dog.
All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, Adopt a Pet and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.
We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue and veterinary care of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.
We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
Ready to Adopt? The next step is to fill out our Adoption Application. A volunteer will contact you to review your application and see if your family might be the right match.
