My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rodger is a 4 yr old big (85 lb) smiley boy with beautiful golden eyes who doesn’t quite know his size and strength. Like most labs he has so much love to give and is very happy to be around humans so you need to watch your step as he is quite the Velcro dude. As a puppy and young lab he lived in a small kennel and then was relegated to living outside so he has been experiencing lots of new things with his foster family and doesn’t want to miss out on any of it.

Roger is actually quite good on a leash but his human needs to stay alert because his sniffer is very active and you never know when something too good to be true is lurking in a bush or blade of grass. He loves long walks with his foster brothers and sister labbies and also does very well chasing tennis balls off leash in the park. He absolutely knows his name and comes when called. He is very friendly with all the kitties of the house and yard…old grumpy, young sassy and mr. feral.

He hadn’t had many car rides and was very nervous at first but luckily he gets to go to his Foster mom’s office 2x a week and spend the day at doggie day care so has been practicing riding in the car (1 hr+ each each way) and doing great! Rodger was a quick study on house manners and knows to do his potties outside on our walks. His foster family fully believes in stuffies and chewers to keep the 4 leggeds busy so Rodger is in heaven! That said, he hasn’t had any issues with chewing household items.

He is a great companion if his family works from home. He knows when it is time for endless conference calls and gets relaxed and naps until it is time for a walk or play in the park. He is a great eater, waits his turn and knows how to sit.

Rodger is a medium energy dog who deserves to truly be an integral part of his family in the house and have a nice comfortable bed at night next to his humans. You can see the happiness is his eyes when he finds his comfy spot. His foster family has truly enjoyed seeing him blossom into the dog he was meant to be in a short period of time. We speculate that because he was kept in a small enclosure for very long periods of time, he does not like to be confined as that and any kind of forceful restraint causes him stress.

He is a precious soul who will be a loyal companion that simply wants to be with you.
