My story

Ruth is a female Tiger DSH.

Ruth is a beautiful spicy little girl who lives to cuddle. She’s very playful and loves her paper toys the most. She is picky with her food but hopefully she will get better with age. She has won my heart and am sure she will win yours too!

The kitten is currently in foster care. At the time of adoption, the kitten will be at least 3 months old, up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered. If you are interested in more information, please email us at info@vol4animals.org. They are not at the Shelter - please do not call the Shelter.

Here is the adoption process:

To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. If Volunteers For Animals spayed or neutered the animal, we are suggesting adopters make a donation of $35 to help with the cost of the surgery which is significantly less than if you had to go to a vet. All of that donation will go directly towards spaying and neutering the next animal we take into the Shelter. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.

Thank you for considering a homeless animal.

More about this shelter

Volunteers For Animals is a nonprofit and all volunteer organization which works in partnership with the Genesee County Animal Shelter by providing the many additional services for the benefit of dogs and cats at the shelter. We assist in the Shelter doing things such as completing adoptions, walking dogs, cleaning, and grooming. We cover the costs to spay and neuter cats and dogs, any vet care that is needed and the extras such as treats, blankets and toys. We organize fundraisers and maintain a website with photos and descriptions of all the available animals at the Shelter.
