My story

May came from Kentucky 2 years ago. She was adopted by a very nice man and his Chihuahua. Sadly this nice man died recently and the dogs lost their home. They wound up in a local kennel. The kennel reached out to Rescue Ridge and both dogs were able to be placed in foster homes. May’s foster mom says she is an easy going, happy hound.  May enjoys running around the fenced yard with the other dogs in the home. But her favorite thing is going on long walks. May is friendly to people and other dogs. She is non reactive and doesn’t bark at other dogs.  Her tail is always wagging. May made an easy transition into her foster home. She goes to the bathroom outside and sleeps in her crate at night.  May is looking for her forever person or family. She loves to snuggle. May is truly a great dog. House broken, playful, hardly ever barks and loves to go for walks. Dog friendly.  May is 6 years young, spayed, up to date on vaccines. She weighs about 40 pounds. if you are interested in May an application is a must, go to  after you fill out please text 732-546-8805 to let us know. If you are a match for May her foster Mom will get back to you.  Please give us a few days to get back to you.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Just contact us at, or call us at 732-681-3450, and we will be happy to provide you with an adoption application and, upon review of personal reference checks, vet checks, and possibly home visits, you may be chosen as a permanent home for that special companion. Please note that filling out an application does NOT automatically approve anyone for a specific adoption. We want to assure that the companion and adoptive family are each going to benefit from the adoption, and that it is as permanent an adoption as possible. We ask for help through donations to help cover the costs associated with keeping the companions up-to-date on vaccinations and spay/neuter programs. We request a donation of $100 for cats, and $200 - $400 for dogs, depending on the specific rescue. We are a tax-exempt organization so that any donation you make to Rescue Ridge is tax deductible, and all costs go directly to all of the animals we rescue.

More about this rescue

Rescue Ridge is a 'last-chance' rescue. Staffed 100% through the efforts and donations of volunteers, we find homes for animals that other shelters and people have given up on. Through the kindness of various boarding kennels and foster families, rescued animals are cared for until they find that final family to love them. Rescue Ridge began by rescuing healthy, beautiful, animals that were slated to be euthanized through no fault of their own. We felt it was unfair, that because their 'humans' had no more use for them, their days were numbered. We have tried to give each and every one of these companions a new lease on life. We rescued dogs, cats, horses and any other animal that we were able to help with our limited resources. And since we have limited space, we are always searching for those willing to help foster these wonderful creatures. We are always happy to provide information on options available to anyone needing to re-home their pet for whatever reason. It is our belief that education regarding pet ownership and its responsibilities is the best hope these companions have. You will have unending rewards when you give a second chance to one of these wonderful friends. They truly are the champions of giving unconditional love. VOLUNTEER: Volunteer dog walkers needed to walk our dogs. We also need volunteers to socialize our dogs. Must love dogs. Training will be provided. Our facility is located in Freehold, NJ. If you have a few hours a month to volunteer, please contact us at IF YOU'RE HAVING BEHAVIORAL ISSUES WITH YOUR DOG: We recommend our professional trainer at DONATE: If you are donating though our PayPal please put in the "instructions to the merchant" which program you are donating toward.
