My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Benton is a handsome 3-year-old Beagle with a lot of puppy-like exuberance and a wish to please people. He may never have been an indoor dog. He loves to play with the house hounds. He loves children, jumps up, so no tiny children. Has not been cat tested. He needs discipline, but he learns quickly. We are working on discipline and house training. Initially he had a few accidents in the house, so we are crate-training until he gets the message. After blending into the time schedule and trips out with the other Beagles, he has fallen into step with their potty schedule. He is very thin. He has a great appetite, and we are happy to oblige him with extra food in his meals. Watch out! He has long legs and loves to counter surf. He loves toys more than any dog I have met. Each morning after breakfast, he takes out all the toys and plays with them. He thinks everything within his reach is his, so please be patient with him. He has the soulful eyes down to an art to get a pet or a treat. Any adopter of Benny will need a yard like Fort Knox. He is an escape artist. He wasn’t home half an hour the first day when he slipped out a tiny gap when our backs were turned. Our neighbor spotted him in the front yard and quickly alerted us that he was out there. We are still watching him when he goes into the back yard in case, we missed anything else. Due to his thin frame, he can slip through the tiniest opening. If his yard is secure, he would be a good candidate for a doggy door. He is heartworm negative and is on prevention. He has been kennel trained from the first night and sleeps through without crying or accidents. He isn’t wild about his kennel, but is well behaved in it, especially if my other dogs are kenneled next to him. If you have another active dog, he would be an amazing playmate for them. He loves playing so much that I think he might be bored as an only dog unless he has kids and his family with him most of the time. Benny will make a family a happy and wonderful pet.
