* As of 1/18/17, the regular adoption fee for dogs is just $40 and cats only $20. * Any pets at the shelter 21 days or longer or those with a plea put out by can be adopted for just $10. * Former and active military can adopt any pet for just $10, regardless of length of shelter stay. * Adoption fees will be waived for seniors (55+) who are adopting any pet 2 years or older. All fees apply to pets at the shelter and in foster. INCLUDED: Costs for spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, de-worming, and micro-chipping (microchip included with full-price adoptions only, available for $25 with discounted adoptions). Adult dogs have been tested for heartworms and cats have been given a feline leukemia test. Adoption Application: All adopters must complete an Adoption Application. The application includes basic contact information, as well as, information that will help determine if the adopter will be a good pet owner. All Adoption Applications will be reviewed by an Adoption Coordinator before being accepted. Visit us at

The Montgomery County Animal Shelter is committed to the delivery of effective, courteous, and responsive animal care and control services to the residents of Montgomery County, Texas. The Shelter is responsible for Montgomery County's stray, injured, abandoned, neglected, and mistreated animals, as well as for the enforcement of all state and local Animal Control and Welfare laws. Our mission at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter is twofold: 1. To protect the health and welfare of our citizens, and; 2. To save animals lives through increased rescue and adoption, increased spay and neuter, and the treatment of treatable animals.
