My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Kino is not your boxed wine kinda guy. Anyone can be shopping for taco ingredients, bread, orange juice, and coffee when they happen to stumble into the beer and wine aisle of the grocery store, and think 'hey, this looks like a good deal.' It takes someone with an understanding of wine to choose just the right bottle for the occasion.

Kino, much like a good vino, is a dog that needs to be appreciated by someone who understands the many layers and complexities of the Husky breed. They are generally very friendly. They love to hold conversations and discuss important topics like 'who's a good boy?' and 'are you a good boy?' They are extremely smart which leads them to do extremely stupid things. 'Hold my chew toy and watch this.' They are very assertive dogs who will NOT be ignored... even when they're pretending you can't see them doing something naughty. They need exercise, physical and mental. A daily walk and something that exercises their mind is key to keeping them from being bored. If you're up for owning a dog who needs a constant reminder that they don't own you, Kino just might be your guy.

Kino is good with other dogs who aren't dominant or ill tempered. He gets too excited around kids and lots of commotion and would do best in a mature, adult only home with someone who can maintain his training. Kino received training from Jeff Coltenback and comes with lifetime support from him. Kino (in typical Husky fashion) likes to explore the world and make demands with his mouth. His training focused on teaching him what's appropriate and what isn't. Keeping up with this is important to keep him out of trouble.

Kino's absolute favorite thing is being petted. He will insist you keep going when you stop, and resort to lots of licking and kissing until you start petting him again. His second favorite thing is treats.

Kino is appx 7-9 years old. He's crate trained, house trained once he gets used to a schedule, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. For more info on Kino or to learn how to adopt, please contact Pawfect Match Rescue and Rehabilitation.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

♥ The first step is to fill out our adoption application on our website at www.pawfectmatch.org under Adoption Information.

♥ Once we receive your application, the second step will be for our volunteers to check your vet reference and talk with your personal references.

♥ The third step, if your application is approved, is for our volunteers to contact you about scheduling a home check. This is not to see what kind of house you live in or how clean or dirty it is. It is simply to see if the yard size, fencing, etc is compatible with your dog of interest. It also allows other animals in your household as well as children to meet your potential new dog to see if everyone will get along and to make sure this is truly a "pawfect" match!

♥ After all three of these steps are completed, the final step is to sign the adoption contract and make the adoption donation fee of $300.00. This may seem high, but it is actually a bargain! Your new pet will be up to date on the necessary vaccinations required by the age of the dog at time of adoption, spayed or neutered, on heartworm preventative and flea and tick meds, micro-chipped, groomed, and well on his or her way with basic obedience and house training. All of our dogs will be adopted out with a collar and leash, and a PMR tag.

♥ NOTE - If you have "spam protection" turned on for your email account, please set a white filter to allow emails from pawfectmatch@gmail.com to pass. We will NOT respond to spam protection response emails.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer rescue organization devoted to saving dogs from shelters, puppy mills, abusive situations and abondonment in North Carolina. Our members foster, transport and help the rescue efforts with their individual skills, experience, knowledge and expertise, and most importantly, their love of dogs.

At Pawfect Match Rescue we believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance regardless of their breed or age.

We take a different approach to rescue. We don’t try to save the masses; we just save ONE at a time and make them the best dog they can be by the time they find their forever homes.

By that we mean that we take them into our homes where they live amongst us and our pets and are treated as one of the family, not as a foster dog. We accomplish this by limiting our fosters to one or two per household.

Besides the basics of crate training and house training, we teach them basic obedience, we groom them, feed them a high quality dog food, and last but not least, we shower them with LOVE and attention that hopefully teaches them to trust again and realize that life really IS good..

We’ll never be able to save them all, no matter how many we try to pull and foster. So we believe that the one at a time approach with the extra TLC allows us to really KNOW the dogs and be able to match them more precisely with their new families.

This ends up being a win- win situation for all involved.

Pawfect Match is all volunteer and relys soley on adoption donation fees and public support. Most times our adoption donations do not cover our medical expenses.
