💙 Deacon is such a handsome boy. He had a bit of a rough start in life, which causes him to be fearful of new environments.
Deacon is very sweet, and he loves all other dogs. He really enjoys playing and running around to stretch his long legs when he goes outside.
Deacon will need time and patience to adjust to a new home. He's not the type of dog to greet you at the door when you get home. He won't cuddle with you on the couch, and he won't follow you all around the house.
He loves hugs and scratches, but it will take quite a while before he'll come to you and ask for them. Once he's comfortable, Deacon is a happy and sweet boy.
If you want an outgoing, social pup who loves adventures and is up for anything, Deacon is not the dog for you. If you have alot of activity and constant change in your home, Deacon is not the dog for you.
If you want a sweet and quiet companion who won't be underfoot and/or if you have a dog who is confident and outgoing and would love a friend, Deacon may be perfect for you.
Deacon is housebroken and crate trained, though he can be trusted out of the crate when you're not home.
If you'd like to sponsor Deacon and help with his care while he looks for the perfect family, you can do so for only $19 a month through our pals at Petbucks:

We require an application to be completed prior to setting up a meet-and-greet. We do not offer "on-the-spot" adoptions. We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis. We do our best to match dogs with families that will be a good fit to help ensure a successful adoption. We reserve the right to decline any application for any reason.
Due to the nature of our adoption process, our fosters are usually only able to consider forever families within a reasonable driving distance of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. A vet reference is required, and a trial period will be completed before finalizing the adoption. Thank you for your understanding.
