Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FENCE REQUIRED / ANOTHER DOG REQUIRED
NAME: Razzle
AGE: Approximately 3-4 years old
WEIGHT: 7 1/2ish lbs.
LIKES: Squeaky toys, playing fetch, playing let’s-squeak-this-toy-together (she may have invented this game), aggressive snuggling (under blankets, on your hip, on your chest, on your lap, under your chin, smushed in next to you… she is an expert), all the treats, zoomies with her dog friends, chasing squirrels, and greeting her people when they come home.
DISLIKES: She is skittish with strangers until she is given a chance to warm up to them, very typical of a chihuahua. She doesn’t like nail trims or bitter cold weather.
PERSONALITY: Ummm, clingy? If you’re in the house, she must be with you. If you go to a room without her (how dare you!?), she welcomes you back as if you’ve been gone for days. She will follow you everywhere and be your best friend forever.
TEMPERAMENT: Razzle is a happy girl with very sweet temperament. While it may take a couple visits with strangers to warm up, she has not met a person she dislikes. She is sensitive to correction. A firm “no” may have her pinning her ears back and giving you “I’m so sorry” big chihuahua eyes, which instantly melt your heart and have you questioning how you can ever tell her no for anything.
ENERGY LEVEL: She has typical high energy for a young chihuahua, loving to run in the yard or house, playing fetch for 10-15 minutes at a time. After playtime, she is content to settle down for a nap until it’s time to play again.
FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Fetch, squeaking toys, zoomies, lots of snuggles, napping under blankets, going for walks or car rides to stores.
FAVORITE TREAT: Any dog treats plus strawberries, blueberries, and raw broccoli.
EATING SCHEDULE: Twice a day - 6am and 6pm - plus several small treats throughout the day, usually after coming inside from going potty.
GOOD WITH CATS, DOGS, KIDS OVER 6? Razzle isn't good with cats. She is fostered with other small dogs and has been just fine with them. She loves to play chase-zoomies with other dogs. We have not seen her around children, but she would probably do best with kids at least 10 yrs old as she can get underfoot, will sometimes connect teeth to fingers when playing tug, and is skittish with quick, unpredictable movements.
HOUSE TRAINED: Yes, and needs to be taken out on a schedule. She does tend to get easily distracted outside, so often needs to potty on-leash before she is allowed to run, sniff and play.
SIGNALS TO GO OUT: No she does not.
CRATE TRAINED: Yes. Crated to sleep at night without any issues. Also crated when no one is home. Because she is young and likes to destroy her toys (and sometimes eat pieces she chews off), it’s safest to keep her crated when not being supervised. She does like a frozen peanut butter kong to keep her occupied if left for longer periods during the day.
CHALLENGES: She can be a flight risk as she will dart through a door - or even push through if it’s not securely latched. She doesn’t like to potty outside if temps are bitter cold. If other dogs in house, she needs to be fed separately as she will eat their food as soon as hers is gone. She has a strong prey drive and will sometimes obsess over a squirrel long after it has left her sight.
MEDICAL ISSUES: No known medical issues.
THE BEST HOME: Honestly, one where she can be snuggled, played with, and loved on 24/7. 😁 A home without young children or cats. A home with a securely fenced yard, full of fluffy blankets, squeaky toys, yummy treats and someone who will give her time to settle in and love her tiny chihuahua ways!!!
