Here's what the humans have to say about me:
5 y/o Ana traveled down from a small shelter in Longview. Many of these small shelters have no adoption programs, so a volunteer took her home when her time was up and called HBHR. This beautiful girl is about 17 inches tall and weighs around 50 pounds.
Ana is as sweet as can be. The first week in her foster home she was shy, timid, and quiet, but the second week she became more comfortable, and her playful side came out. She is cautious around new people, but with some sweet talk and some petting you’ll gain her trust. She's friendly and gentle with small children. She’s been the only dog in her foster home and has done fine, but she also plays well with other dogs. I’m not sure how she is with cats, but anyone interested in adopting her needs to understand this breed is a hunting dog with a tendency to chase.
Ana is a coonhound mix with very long legs so she would not be a good apartment dog. She needs a fenced yard where she can run around when she gets the zoomies. She’s also great on a leash and really enjoys walks, which I suggest daily to get some of her energy out. She has great house manners. There have been no accidents or counter surfing and she responds well to the word “no.” However, she thinks anything on the floor belongs to her, like shoes and socks, so I would suggest those are put away and that she has plenty of her own squeaky toys and bones to chew on. She has not been crated. She is kept in a 15 ft x 12 ft room with a dog bed, access to her water, and toys and she has done fine when left alone for a few hours. More than anything, my wish is that this sweet girl finds someone who can return all the love and affection she has to give, will allow her to snuggle on the couch, and curl up in a ball next to her human in bed at night. She deserves nothing but the very best.
