My story

Oreo
Oero is a female Beagle/Australian Shepherd mix.
DOB: November of 2019

Adoption fee: $150.00

I am as fun as a double stuff Oreo and my personality is just as delicious. I love to pose for the camera, and I am famous on the Humane Society’s TikTok account. Check me out!!

I am clean in my kennel, walk well on leash, but will still require a physically fenced yard. I do have a collapsing trachea; it is not life threatening; it just means I walk best with a harness and my collar should be lightweight. I will do my best with children 10+ years or older who are respectful of me. I am not fit for apartment life.

I have not been tested on cats but can be with an approved application. I am food motivated, and smart. I am an extremely sweet girl. Pending a meet and greet, I may match with another dog, there are no guarantees. I do not mind the other dogs but have been dog selective when meeting or playing with others.

Some person, couple or family is going to be super lucky to call me their fur-kid, best friend, and loyal loving companion. I am all three things, and much, much more.

If you are interested in being my adopter, please visit my shelter's website and complete the adoption application that is available there! HSSCM.org you can find the applications under the "adoptions" tab.

More about this shelter

About Us:
We are the area's nonprofit advocate, sanctuary and source for companion animals since 1887.

Our Mission:
-to protect animals from suffering and cruelty
-to provide safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals
-to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care.

We believe in second chances at the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Our service area includes all of Calhoun County and parts of Kalamazoo, Barry and Branch counties. We keep animals as long as it takes to find a good home for adoption once the animal passes temperament testing and is checked for good health. The Watkins Road shelter cares for up to 100 animals a day, and adopts out more than 500 animals a year. Countless area residents use the Society’s animal care, adoption and education programs each year. The Humane Society is overseen by a board of directors. We do not receive any government or tax dollars, or national humane organization funding. Our services are made possible by people in our community who care about homeless cats and dogs - people like you!

The Humane Society of South Central Michigan values:
-The ethical and humane treatment of animals
-Its role as a shelter for animals that suffer from pain, fear, and neglect
-Community accountability for the welfare of its animals
-Responsible stewardship of our resources
-Community involvement to achieve our goals
-Education about responsible pet ownership
-The joy of sharing a life with animal companions
