My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Henry was brought into the Riverside shelter system by animal control officers with another dog. ACs believe the other dog had been attacking Henry, as he had bite marks and wounds on several spots. He also had a leather harness embedded in his chest. All of this tells us he was neglected and did not receive proper care. The shelter removed the harness and the wounds from it have healed, although he is still growing in fur where he was shaved so the harness could be removed. He is a sweet, loving boy who really enjoys walks and sniffing out the area. He is very motivated to chase small creatures so would not do well in a home with cats, rabbits, or small dogs. However, he gets along with and seems to enjoy the company of bigger dogs. He's a great size -- about 50 pounds -- and would make a loving companion. We aren't 100 percent certain he's house-trained but he is doing well, so we are sure he would be in a short time if he isn't already. He could use some basic training in areas such as sit, down, stay, etc. Henry is a bit scared of the car; we aren't sure what the reason is but his fosters are working on making the car a happy event that doesn't always end at the vet's office.
