Meet Gruffy, aka Gruff, the Gruffster and the Gruff man. As you may be aware, many shelters across the country have been and continue to be consistently full beyond capacity and are desperately looking for adopters and fosters to allow for more shelter space to avoid euthanasia. Gruffy found himself in a WV shelter, after being found loose protecting an unaccompanied toddler that had wandered into an intersection. Gruffy was unfortunately tased by the responding officers after not wanting to leave the toddler’s side. He is a 65 lb. neutered male boxer mix, approximately 7 years old and up to date on vaccines. He is in good health, incredibly spry, fun loving, playful, smart, good mannered, a great house guest, gentle, loves leash walks, car rides, is house broken and responsive to commands. He is good with other dogs (not sure about cats), all people, including children and loves to be near his people. He is a fantastic dog!

Possibly due to his past experience, he does not like officers in uniform or anything that resembles them, such as motorcycle leathers and helmets. He does not do well in a crate and will try to bite his way out of it, but that's ok because he doesn't need one! He has been the perfect gentleman in his foster home.
