My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Santino is your typical happy and vocal beagle that loves walks and treats. He enjoys telling you(in a very loud beagle voice) about his displeasure while you trim his nails, aren't moving fast enough on a walk, or walk by his kennel without saying hello and tossing him a treat. Did I mention that Santino is vocal?

We recommend that Santino's new family lives in a home vs an apartment because the neighbors may not appreciate a very vocal beagle. He would also enjoy a fenced in yard to do his beagle things like run around and sniff every inch of the yard at least 3 times a day without getting lost in the neighborhood. We aren't requiring a fence but a secure, beagle proof method of containment is absolutely required. We love Santino but uh, we would love him even more if he stayed at his new families home... and not end up back at the shelter after getting lost in the woods 2 miles away from home.

Santino has an interesting story that involves him already being in at LEAST 3 different homes. The first home we know about involved a truck driver that no longer had time for him so he was given to a neighbor. That neighbor was his second home and they were allergic to him so gave him to another neighbor, his 3rd home, who had chihuahuas. Well you see, Santino doesn't really like chihuahuas so he ended up here with us, his 4th "home" if you will. So Santino prefers a home without dogs smaller than him and a meet and greet is required with any resident dogs to make sure he, and they, approve. And he would love if his next home is his LAST home.

Santino isn't just vocal, he's smart too! This energetic guy knows sit, shake AND (lay) down. Oh and he has amazingly awesome ears that flop out to the sides when hes trying to be patient!

Santino has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has tested neg. for heartworm which is included in the $75 adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this dog, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays)
