My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Juicy!

Hello, my name is Juicy, and I'm just as sweet as the day is long. At 14 years old, and weigh just 12 pounds, I have no reason to be sassy to anyone! I'm just living my best life. I get along well with other small dogs who aren't too rambunctious or mean to me. I haven't met cats yet, but I did meet some kids, and although I'm fine with them if they are respectful, I do startle easily when I'm sleeping, I don't hear too well anymore, and my vision is lacking, so I shouldn't live with little tykes. With old age comes just a few medical issues. You see, I have a grade 6 heart murmur (that's the highest you can go, and there is nothing to do for it at this point, besides love of course), and I have some medicated eye drops (about $50-$60 a month). Easy peasy! I try to let my foster mom know I need to go potty, but sometimes it's too late because my old bladder can't hold it so well anymore, so my new family will have to be committed to letting me out frequently. My foster mom has started putting a tray under my potty pads inside, and now that I can gauge where they are, I use them perfectly if I need to go potty in-between being let outside. I don't mind clothes, so if you're looking for a dog to dress up with some cute diapers and matching dresses, I'm the lady for you!

I love being outside hanging out in the yard sniffing, going on walks, lounging in the sun, you name it! I recently started going up the 5 steps to go inside from outside, but I also don't mind being picked up to be carried up them. I enjoy being in the same room as my foster mom, sleeping on a bed on the floor, as I'm not much of a lap dog who needs to be held all the time. In fact, I prefer not to be on your lap. At night I sleep in a little playpen with a bed and some pee pads (incase I need to go in the middle of the night), and sleep right through the night! I'm looking for a new family who just kind of wants a buddy to hang out with. Someone to love me and take care of me. Someone to pet me, and tell me I'm beautiful. Boy, I sure do hope my new family finds me soon!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
