My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dottie

- She is very playful with toys, people and other dogs.
- She does well with the other dogs in her foster home.
- She gets "zoomies" inside the house multiple times per day.
- She will pick up and shake toys.
- She does likes treats and chewing on bones.
- She does respond to her name.
- She did well in her previous foster in Texas with cats.

Backstory:
Dottie came to us from one of our rescue partners in Texas. She has a sad backstory. Someone poisoned her entire family. The neighbors who called for help are pretty sure they know who it was because one neighbor was always complaining about the dogs. She was one of two survivors. One of our rescue partners crawled under a building to pull out her and her sister. They were laying beside their deceased parents and siblings. Ugh

Her sister went on transport to a rescue in Michigan and she is now here with us. Despite her past she is a wonderful dog with a great disposition. She a calm and easy going girl.

Here is another video of her at her foster home: https://youtube.com/shorts/L82sCKkaYMs?feature=share

Basics: She is guessed to be 5 months old and currently weighs around 15lbs. She has age appropriate vaccines and up to date on flea-tick and heartworm prevention. She has been spayed and has a microchip

Adoption Process:
- Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application
- One of our team members will get back to you via phone.
- Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding
- Adoption fee helps to cover transport costs, spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip.
-We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt.
NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available.

About Us:
Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit that is dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Dyer, IN area and partner with 12 other rescues and shelters in both IL and IN that are willing to help southern pets in need.
We rely on donations to help fund our ongoing transports. Please donate if you can. Every dollar adds up and we are grateful for any help we can get: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/DayoftheDogs
