My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Trek! This sweet girl is a Great Pyrenees born 6/1/2017.
Meet Trek!
Trek had been wandering in West Kennewick for several weeks and appeared to be frantically looking for someone. Once we learned of her situation, a group of our dedicated volunteers set out to find her and observe where she went and ultimately capture her and bring her to safety. She was immediately taken to Vista Veterinary Clinic where she has received excellent care while she recovered. Trek was underweight, covered in ticks and had cheat grass embedded in her feet, legs and chest.
Trek is fully recovered and ready to move on to the next step in her journey. Since we don’t know a lot about her history we are currently assessing how she does with cats, small and large dogs etc.
She is estimated to be between 5-6 years old and potentially a Great Pyrenees mix-she weighs around 63 pounds. She is altered, microchipped and current on all vaccines.
We do know that she prefers women to men-she will take treats from anyone equally 😀. She takes a bit to warm up and trust-given how long she was alone and on the road that makes sense to us.
Trek will need a home with a very secure 6- foot fence and a foster or adopter who understands that she’s still learning where she belongs in the world. And who she belongs with. She is not the dog you leave unattended in the back yard at this point. She needs to decompress and gain a sense of security with the person entrusted with her care. She absolutely adores the kennel staff at Vista Vet and will jump up on them to greet them while wagging her tail. One of the staff bring their 6 and 9-year-old children to visit and they sit in Trek’s kennel with her.
Trek has learned sit while in boarding and also knows down – She’s very treat motivated and takes treats gently. She’s great on a leash, doesn’t pull unless something bothers her-like loud trucks or motorcycles that startle her. And if she sees a squirrel.
If you’re interested in the honor of being the person/people who help her have a wonderful life, please apply here https://www.mikeyschance.com/become-a-foster as a foster, all of her veterinary care food and other supplies will be provided while she’s in your temporary care.
To adopt, follow this link https://www.mikeyschance.com/adoption-application
At this point we are assessing how she is with other dogs or cats – we will assist with any meet and greets prior to placing her in a home.
