He came from an unsuitable home with too many pets. He is around 1 year old. He is not fixed so that's why he has the male diapers, to keep from marking. He was likely not treated well, he seems quite scared initially but warms up quickly. He has gotten along well with my cat, my toddler, and other dogs that he has met.
