My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey my name is Bridgette! I am a goofy, playful, and affectionate dog looking for an active owner who can offer lots of play time and quality one-on-one time. I am a well rounded dog who loves to have fun with toys, but also loves to chill and snuggle.
I'm a fun-loving dog who loves to play chase, so a home with cats or young children wouldn't be a good fit for my exuberant personality. I could do well with doggie friend in my forever home, but new friends can be pretty exciting for me, so I would like to meet them at the shelter beforehand to make sure we are a good match.

Foster Parent Comments: "Bridgette is the sweetest little gremlin. She is ready to go go go as soon as she wakes up in the morning but settles into a nice long morning nap after breakfast and some wrassling time. She absolutely loves playing tug with any toy, fetch (though we've had mixed results on her giving the ball back), zooming around the trees in the backyard, and loves to pretend she's in the WWE when she plays with her foster sister. She is eager to learn and has come so far in the year-ish she's been with me! We've been working on being calm when we pass other dogs who are barking from their yards and she's making great progress with the help of training treats and me being consistent on our walks. We found out last fall when she came up north with me that she loves playing in lakes and going on long hikes to smell ALL the smells. She's an adventurous eater, and we've determined bananas, bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, green beans, apples, and even brussel sprouts are yummy so long as they're cut into perfect bite sized pieces. She gives great gentle hugs, is always ready to give many many kisses, and loves to curl up on the couch or bed after a long day of shenanigans."

Let Bridgette's bubbly personality float into your life! She will be a wonderful companion who will shower you with love, and bring so much joy and laughter into your life. With a little bit of time to settle in, Bridgette will surely blossom into your best friend!

Bridgette is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

Additional adoption info

Thank you for considering adopting and saving a life! Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge you need to adopt while making the process a positive experience, so here are some things to know:

+ You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt at HSHV. We welcome all--from any county or state!

+ Prior to visiting an animal, you must complete an application. You can do this at the shelter, or save time by bringing a completed one with you by downloading it from our website at www.hshv.org/howtoadopt.

+ Some animals have special adoption requirements.

+ If you have a dog and wish to adopt another, we may require a dog-to-dog interaction.

+ Adoptions are first-come, first served and holds are limited to one 24-hour hold per family.

+ Please allow at least an hour if you plan on adopting. Bring your driver's license or other government-issued ID with proof of address, a copy of your lease (if it applies) and vaccination records for current pets.

+ Applications are accepted up until 15 minutes prior to closing.

+ Most adoptions are same-day, you'll take home your new friend!

When our animals go home, they've received an initial health check and have been:
+ Spayed/Neutered
+ Microchipped
+ Current on vaccinations (as appropriate to their age)
+ Dewormed
+ Feline Leukemia tested (kittens and cats)
+ Heartworm tested (adult dogs)
