My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please contact Main Email CARE (caretoadopt@gmail.com), (803) 622-9813 for more information about this pet.
The most accurate and up to date information about adoptable pets is on our official website at www.caretoadopt.org.

Sandie is a shy girl at first but spunky once she feels comfortable. She is a sweetie who loves face pets and is still learning that being held a lot can be fun too! She needs a patient person who will let her in personality continue to grow.  Sandie will become fast friends with you over hay & veggies.

If interested in adopting, email your application today!

Adoption Fee: $ 150.00

NEW: ALL CARE rabbits receive both RHDV2 vaccines by Cornerstone Animal Hospital in Irmo, SC or Pet Vac Animal Hospital in West Columbia, SC.

All rabbits receive an exam, RHDV2 vaccines x 2, dewormer, topical treatment for possible fleas, mites & heartworms, microchip, and are spayed/neutered through CARE. Each rabbit is fed high quality grass hays, fresh vegetables, high quality pellets, and some fruits.

All of these expenses, often over months, cost way more than the adoption fee. Many vets charge $150 to $900 for rabbit neuters/spays alone. We are nonprofit and have to make up some of the costs through adoption fees in addition to accepting donations and fundraising.

To learn about proper rabbit care and why bonded pairs are a great idea, please visit: www.rabbit.org

Breeds are always our 'best guess' based on experience, weight, vet sugestions, and other factors.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We adopt out of state at the adopter's expense. Please inquire about the process if you are out of state.

We require potential adopters to fill out an adoption application. Once we receive the application back we will check references (to be included in the application), a home visit will then be set up to see if the animal fits the family and the family fits the animal.

If the potential adopter is approved and all vet care has been finished on the pet, a non-refundable adoption fee is due via check, cash or Paypal.

We will check back on you and your new pet in a few days, 1 month and at 3 months (if there is a need, to make sure the adjustment period is a success). Should the adoption not work out, we will always take the animal back as quick as we can. It is required they are ONLY returned to us. Our screening process is geared to hopefully avoid unecessary returns. Please keep this in mind when adopting - it is intended to be a LONG TERM COMMITMENT.

Please ask the foster parent what the adoption fee is as some vary.

All animals come with the following (what the fee includes):

Vet exam, vaccines, deworming, heartworm test (dogs) or FELV/FIV test (cats/kittens), and spay or neuter.

Go meet their pets

We do not currently have a shelter for the animals. We foster the animals in our own homes. We will be happy to show them to you by appointment. Please call or email to arrange. Our foster homes are in and around Columbia, SC (mainly). Out of state adoptions are ok, but same adoption procedures apply.

More about this rescue

WHY RESCUE?

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter…the cast-offs of human society.

I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal.

And I was angry.

“God,” I said, “this is terrible! Why don’t you do something?”

God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly.

“I have done something," He replied. “I created you.”
