My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pitbull / Yorkie Mix
Age: 5-6 yrs old
Male, neutered
23 lbs

Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations)

Snoopy was picked up by Oakland animal control as a stray. He had terrible skin issues. He was microchipped and it was registered. The shelter contacted his previous owner. She indicated that she instructed her grandchildren to dump Snoopy at the shelter, but it appears that they dumped him on the streets instead. The woman surrendered to dog to the shelter over the phone, stating that she no longer wanted the dog. Snoopy’s biggest issue at the shelter was being leashed. He would try and bite the leash as you put it over his head. Due to his skin issues and trouble leashing, the shelter decided he was “rescue only.”

Snoopy is a very friendly, playful, oversized lap dog. Even though we thought his breed would be something in the “shaggy dog” classification, his eyes definitely gave off a pitbull vibe. His vet records from the previous owner indicated that he was a pitbull. We did the DNA testing and were very surprised that he is mostly pitbull with a little bit of Yorkie and some other undefinable mixed breed. He gets along pretty good with most dogs (the other foster dog, who is blind, tolerates Snoopy). Once Snoopy trusts his handler, he can be leashed and harnessed for walks. He loves walks and does well on them. He would do good with another playful, dog his size or a little larger.

His skin issues are responding well to medication. However, it is unclear at this time if he may need to be on these medications for the rest of his life.

Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13.
