My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willow is very smart, and figures things out quickly (especially how to escape!) She loves to play with new toys, run and wrestle with her older Dogo foster sister, and to steal her foster moms slippers! She enjoys meeting new people and new dogs, but does not like dogs that are dominant or try to bully her.

She is VERY treat and food motivated and recently worked through food aggression issues and is responding very well to training.

She is walking well on a leash and likes short walks; she does get pretty tired on longer walks since she is still young. Willow is not a fan of going in the car as she gets car sick, but we are working on this and she has been improving. We think she will grow out of this and is getting better. She is crate trained and almost fully potty trained. She needs a home that has lots of time to continue her training and socialization.

Her ideal home has an older male dog, experienced Dogo owners, and lots of space to run and play. She is not very fond of small children. She would be ok with older children, and unsure around cats. She is good with other dogs so far, but has a very dominant personality and should not be in a home with another female dog.

Her family needs to be able to establish and alpha role, and create good rules and boundaries with her so that she knows her place in the family.

Willow LOVES to be with her people, and she is the best cuddler! Watch out because she gives lots of kisses!

Overall, she is a sweet pups who responds well to training. She is looking for an ACTIVE homes with Dogo (or similar) experience and knowledge. People who understand large, strong, dominant dogs. She needs a fenced in yard, and someone who has lots of time for training and socializing her. She would do well with dogs of the opposite sex, but not the same sex. No small children. She is friendly with people and other dogs, as long as the other dogs are submissive.

Dogos are a wonderful breed but we urge anyone interested to dig in and do a lot of research before
deciding if they are a good fit for your home. They require a lot of attention and training with them
never ends! Boundaries must be enforced and they often need reminders as they push past boundaires
you set! Dogos are loving, kind and gentle but don't mistake that for weakness because they are equally
powerful and intense as well! Everyone in the home must be on board with having a dogo and play a
major role in their daily routines and training. Yes it is work, but the rewards are ten-fold! Lazy homes
don't work for dogos as they need stimulation, exercise, and lots of attention too during their younger
years. Our goal in rescue is to be as transparent as we can about each and every dog plus make sure new
families really understand the needs of a dogo!
