My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 10/3/22: This sweet girl is still on the hunt for her forever home She is great with calmer dogs (at my house anyway). She will be your shadow. Loves food! Loves treats. Loves walks! Better with older kids. She need a patient family… takes a few days for her to be comfortable . It was great she got to be someplace different. Got her outside of her comfort zone. She’s an older lady… estimated 8-10 years young. She doesn’t do kennels. She hangs out in a room while I’m at work (I have a dog that can be mean aka mean girl). She doesn’t mind it at all. She has ALL the LOVE to give and is the very best snuggler.

She is still looking for her forever home. This mature lady is perfect addition to almost any family. Sweet sweet Janis Joplin.

If you are looking for a great great dog, this is her.  She is fully potty trained, kennel trained (but doesn’t actually need one), super quiet (not sure I’ve actually heard her bark ) and loves to walk. She is a runner and will try if she gets the chance.  Definitely needs a fence or really good harness for walking.  . She is so very sweet!  She will be getting spayed next week (Aug 1ish) and all the vetting to ensure she is healthy. She came to us from a Texas shelter with 4 pups.We were told she's a Jack, which is why we said we'd help. Weighing in at near 50 lbs, we assure you she is NOT  but she's here now and we love her. (High Forest Humane took the pups once weaned.)

More to come on Janis and she continues to come out of her shell!

More about this rescue

Russell Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) dog rescue organization. It was started in 2008 by Mary Ruth Rogers of Columbia, TN. Our mission is to save and re-home unloved, abandoned and abused dogs, especially the Jack Russell terrier. Most of our dogs come from high kill shelters in Tennessee, and other nearby states.
