My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet, smart, sensitive, quirky Mal named Maggie is on the search for someone just like her: sweet, smart, sensitive and quirky...

Described by a staff member as Furry Flash Bang! Maggie has everything that Mal lovers love about Mals. She can go from training to needing a belly rub to back to training before you can say this sentence. She needs a certain comfort level when she's training (she knows her limits!) but if you are attentive to that, she can be an amazing partner, you can see her glow as she gets comfortable and finds her confidence, a satisfying experience for everyone!

Maggie Girl!

This beautiful gal was found as a stray while roaming through an industrial center with an e-collar on her neck and taken to a shelter...she was one day away from being euthanized at the shelter (for space reasons) when we found her! She has been in our search dog training program for several months, but because she is triggered by stimulus in her environment, she was too often over-aroused, over threshold, and unable to focus on the work we do.

Again, for the Mal lovers...she is constantly on the alert, very aware of her environment and ready to step into action at any moment. If you are able to harness that readiness, she is all yours! She does have an off switch (especially when indoors and in place), but you must know how to find it.

Her no-no's: small kids, cats and other creatures (she has a very high prey drive), first time dog owners, inactive households.

Mals are sensitive creatures and Maggie is no exception, she is all ears, eyes and nose, waiting for you to find her, appreciate her, work with her and dispense those belly rubs!
