My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Niko, a vibrant 4.5-year-old Boxer mix, brimming with energy and a fun-loving spirit. This lively pup adores car rides and delights in indulging in pup cups from his favorite coffee shops. Niko is well-mannered, being both house and crate trained, proficient in basic commands, and always gentle when taking treats.

Enthusiastic about walks, Niko is quite skilled on a leash, but could benefit from further training in this area. A secure, fenced-in backyard would be the perfect space for him to thrive. As an eager learner, Niko's food motivation makes him all the more endearing and devoted to his human companions.

Niko yearns to be your best friend, following you around, cuddling, and giving affectionate kisses. His loving personality truly stands out and will win your heart. He will flourish with an attentive owner who can provide the attention he craves.

While Niko's compatibility with cats remains uncertain, he bonds well with his foster sibling, but can be selective when it comes to meeting new dogs. At his core, Niko is a gentle giant, with a tender heart that is easily frightened by thunder and lightning.

Additional adoption info

Found an animal on our site and want to meet them or find out more about them? Fill out the adoption questionnaire located below and submit to us. Once we have reviewed/approved your application, we will provide you with the foster contact information so that you can find out more and arrange a “meet and greet”. All of our animals are located in foster homes throughout the Triangle area.

When going to a “meet and greet”, please make sure you take any family members and other pets (if at all possible) to observe their interactions. This can make introduction into the new home easier for the animals and for you.

The animal’s foster parent will ultimately make a recommendation to the organization regarding the permanent placement of the animal. Once an adoption decision has been made by both parties, we ask for an adoption fee to help us cover spay/neutering, shots, medical treatment, food and supplies – this amount only partially cover the cost of expenses and allows us to help as many animals as possible!

What if the adoption doesn’t work out? We have a lifetime return policy on our animals as we don’t want to see them turned back into a shelter.
