My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Sammie! People who have met me would say I'm a gentle girl. When I get real excited, I chomp my teeth because I know it makes people laugh. I have been hanging out at my foster mom's house for a few months now. When I first got there, I was pretty nervous. However, I slowly started to understand I was in a safe place and my personality blossomed to such a sweet and loving dog! I LOVE going shopping to hardware and pet stores. My absolute favorite is getting pup cups at a drive-thru!

I would love a home where someone is home most of the time. I have slowly built my confidence in my foster home where I can be left alone for 4+ hours, but I would be said if I were left alone for 8+ hours a day. I am the perfect medium energy dog. I enjoy snuggling, going on walks, car rides, and running zoomies in the yard. I need slow introductions with other dogs, but I have been successful with calmer dogs after a proper intro. My ideal home would be cat free, I love cats a little too much to cohabitate with them. My foster mom says I am such a lover and I'm ready to share my love and joy with my future family. Could that be you?

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
