ADOPT US! Joy and Grace! Meet Grace who is bonded to Joy.
Hi, Grace will be 6 years old in Dec 2022 and Joy will be 7 years old in Dec 2022. Each weighs a healthy, fit 75 lbs. After living together for all their lives, their family had to surrender them to LWR because they were moving due to health reasons and could not take the girls with them. They are bonded but not codependent.
Even though they are a tad older, they have the energy of a couple young girls and would love someone who would give them lots of attention and exercise. They both love to chase squirrels and other critters. They both have a prey drive so they should not be homed with cats. Joy is the hunter and she will remember the last place she saw a critter and keep going back there to find it each time she goes out. Grace loves tennis balls. She will chase them all day. Its best to have 2 balls. She will bring the first ball back and drop it at your feet so you can throw the second one. Joy and Grace are are quite the lovers and are very snuggly with each other and people. Their little tails go 90 mph. They will want to shower you with lots of love and affection so there should be more than one human in their new home.
They have attended daycare and boarding when their original family went on vacation. They did well there with other dogs and have met other dogs in their extended family. However, they would probably do best in a home without another resident dog so they can get the attention they deserve and are not distracted by any other dogs.
They both know how to sit, come, down, and give paw. Both are very motivated by both food and affection and would be quick learners. They ride quietly in the car and take treats gently The girls were trained to an invisible fence at their original home but have free run in a yard with a physical privacy fence at their fosters. They are strong and pull on their leashes when being walked. This is the only area they need training. They do jump a tad when new people come over but a stern “No, off.” works well. They don’t actually jump on you, just up in the air near you. They were not allowed on the furniture but will try to sneak up. They will get down with a “No, off”. They would do well if you work from home as they rarely bark and if they do it is brief and they stop as soon as you tell them “it’s ok, enough now.”
The Foster Mom keeps them in separate crates at night. They are usually ready for bed around 10 0r 10:30 pm. They run back to their crates at night with the command “Nighty Night, let's go to bed.". Sometimes they try to get in the same crate but foster mom will not let them stay in the same crate together. She says it is much healthier for them to have our own space! The girls go to bed around 10 pm and get up at 6 am for breakfast. They sleep very well in their crates and when morning comes and they are let out, they are very happy. They do not bark in their crates or try to escape. They have not been left alone in the house but have been crated for a couple hours during the day if needed.
Their first family had an 11 year old living with them and a 14 month old grandchild who came over and visited. They got along well with both. They are very friendly to all people. It was a long transport from their original home to our foster home but we rode well and made up to everyone and gave kisses. Since they are a couple of good-sized girls, they probably shouldn't be around any children that are very small. We are spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and started on
We will be the perfect girls for the perfect family. Their foster mom says they are so well behaved that there would not be much more work for two than if someone adopted one.
