MEET KETO…and his story is not so happy 🙁 This adorable, 16 lb, tri colored, apx 8 yr old Havanese Mix (as best we can tell) was adopted from the shelter many moons ago. We don’t know why he ended back there a few months back, but the shelter was told he was 16 yrs old and nobody wanted a 16 yr old dog! He is NOT 16, he acts like a puppy and the shelter re-aged him at 6 yrs old (when we made a fuss!) They agreed he is not an old dog! We believe he is more like 8, as he is missing a few teeth, but his eyes are clear and he has the personality and energy level of a puppy! We thought that he loved other dogs, but we’ve learned a little too much for dogs who don’t want company! So, we decided he should be an only dog.
This poor dog has been shuffled around so much he just wants to belong. He needs a home that is experienced with dogs and knows that most of them, like children, need parameters. A senior couple adopted him from the shelter and gave him a couple of months to acclimate but he didn’t. No training, no parameters. Apparently, he nipped a member of the family, we don’t know the circumstances, but he ended up back in the shelter three months later in quarantine hell. The shelter never experienced any aggression or guarding behavior but his foster buddy, a bigger dog, didn’t like Keto sharing his space, so he went to day care. Again, he doesn’t do well with chaos or multiple dogs…and he is not happy there. So let’s get this boy a forever home that is absent of chaos and has a loving atmosphere of support, training and parameters. Better safe than sorry, so no kids…but a home with lots of attention is on the agenda! Could that be you?
Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID

Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!
