My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOOK who we have here- TEX - a shy good fellow! Beautiful, approx. 3yr. old Shar-Pei

Have a look at this face with his wrinkles, and his sad eyes - he is not sure yet what to think of this world.
We assume that TEX was surrendered by his own owner - together with his three siblings.
What we also can assume is that TEX was the one being affected the most by this dramatic abandonment.
TEX was originally kenneled with his siblings (all males) in that same shelter but now he is the only one left and he understandably sure misses the comfort of having his friends around.
TEX is in a foster home in CA since ADR.org has rescued him from the AV shelter in CA. He is getting a bit more out of his shell but remains on the calm, shy side. The foster environment reports that he can care less for cats and is not reactive to their presence at all. He accepts petting and handling easily but prefers an assertive, settled calm person that makes him feel safe. at the beginning he showed sign of separation anxiety given what he went through.
The foster home has adults only so we do not know what his behavior would be with children, especially if they are unruly or unsensitive to his shy character.
TEX is neutered, microchip and up to date with vaccinations. Bloodwork was done, too.
TEX has immense potential to move on, explore new situations, meet people, and find new friends on four legs.
ADR.org would like to see him in a home with no or only adult children, with owners who continue to work with him to raise his confidence in himself - and care for him being socialized in the right way.
We further assume that TEX would benefit living with another dog and having a fenced backyard to romp around with his friend.
TEX is NOT an apartment dog, or a dog that is left alone at home all day.
If you are interested in meeting TEX, we would like to hear from you: send a little description of who you are and how you live and add some photos of you/home- and what else you want to share, incl. a phone # because we would like to talk to you first to get to know you better.
So, email ADR@animaldefenserescue.org
I know that there is someone out there for this wonderful fellow!
WOOFLY,

TEX
