My story

Sassy Marie is a meet n greet only due to her high stress anxiety and under socialization. She will probably due best as a single doggie only with a very patient parent. I’ve been hiding this little firecracker for a while now! Meet Sassy Marie, a 7 year old female red  chihuahua mix weighing 8lbs. Sassy has quite a bit of separation anxiety but is getting better at accepting that humans need to leave the room and do come back. Sassy is a snuggle bug under covers for sleeping at night and during the day will nap frequently. She loves to go for long walks/whether on a leash or in a very secure backyard. She is NOT a car rider (and needs to be crated) NO CATS as they are insanely fun to terrorize and bark at! Other dogs are fine as long as they want to play all the time and don’t get mad at her for trying to play. She is potty trained unless she hasn’t been out and can have accidents. She can be crated but will make quite the ruckus until she is out. Sassy is not an apartment/condo dog due to her whining and barking anxiety. She will settle but sometimes it can be disturbing to others. Sassy will do best with someone who is home all the time with only short periods away from her. This is one smart cookie and will love with everything she has but it will take some time to get her used to routine, so patience is an absolute must when considering adoption.

Additional adoption info

You are required to sign a legally binding contact on your new pet. As part of that contract, should you no longer be able to keep the animal for any reason, the animal MUST be surrendered back to SAAP. This is to ensure the animal is placed back in foster care while we secure a new approved home for the animal. However, we always try to ensure that the initial placement is best for the pet and your family. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of animals that are in need of a forever home. Our animals are fostered in homes where we provide love, food, medical care and socialization until adoption into a new loving home. We educate on the importance of spaying and neutering of all pets.

We ensure all animals have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are micro-chipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm and anti-flea medications (as age appropriate). They are ready and waiting to start their new life with their fur-ever family. Could that be you?

We need your help to continue our mission. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donation will go towards the rescue, care, and medical needs of the animals.
