Brando von Braak is a beautiful 16-18 month old German Shepherd mix. This stunning blond boy with the megawatt smile has the sweetest temperament. Brando is a leaner. He leans up against you for attention and pets. He looks up to you with those big, round amber eyes and encourages you to lean over to give him a big hug and rubs along the chest. Brando is a social boy. He looks forward to both his walks with you and his training sessions. He’s young but has already learned quite a bit already. He knows his sit and down and is learning about leash manners. He gets excited about getting out and about; however, he listens to directions and will settle down. Brando is a social boy who meets dog nicely when on leash and in playgroups. In the yard he runs around and explores. He greets friendly dogs as they come in and is very comfortable as they romp around. We just know that Brando is one you can’t refuse so, if you have a home sans kitties and small dogs come soon to meet this boy!

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
