Pretty Luna is a lab/pit/boxer mix; she is between 7-8 years old and weighs 50lbs. She can be sweet with children, but is not always gentle with toddlers. Luna is currently on Trazadone and Prozac for anxiety. She's reactive/barks a lot in a vehicle. "Luna knows how to sit and lie down. She knows how to stay, but only for a few moments. She leash trained, but can pull at times, especially when she sees another dog. Luna dislikes and/or fears "...being inside of barriers (closed doors, windows, fences), reactive to noises or seeing people outside of home. Luna is good with people and loves to give kisses. She adores her people, and will follow them around the house and wants to be with them. When she is energetic, Luna loves to chase after her toys and nibble on them. All other times, Luna is very content to curl up on the couch or on any cozy surface she can find, or to find a nice sunny spot to bathe in during the day."
Luna's guardian explains the reason she has decided to rehome her: " Luna is not always comfortable or appropriately gentle/patient with young children (especially toddlers) and we just had a baby. For those reasons, with a heavy heart, we think it’s best to find her an even better home."
Bite incident: In 2020 in Baltimore, Luna bit her dog walker while attempting to remove the harness. The skin was not broken, animal control was not involved, and medical treatment was unnecessary.
Luna's guardian doesn't recommend her living with children, dogs, or cats; she explains as follows: She can be sweet with children, but is not always comfortable or appropriately gentle/patient with young children (especially toddlers). She has mouthed on hands of young children when they try and pet her and she is in an agitated/activated mood. She has inadvertently knocked over small children a couple of times by bumping into them when going to chase a toy, bark at the door, etc. She gets nervous around other dogs. It is possible for her to coexist with other dogs - more likely medium to large dogs who are not playful. It’s best to avoid interactions with other unknown dogs on walks, or puppies/dogs that are very playful. She is leash trained, but can pull at times, especially when she sees another dog. Has lunged at cats while on walks, has not interacted with one inside of a home."
Luna's guardian describes here future ideal home: Luna is a sweet, pretty, and athletic dog in need of a new home. Luna is approximately 7-8 years old. Her current family has had her for 4 years and has done everything they can to manage her anxiety. Luna would do very well with a dog owner who knows how to care for dogs with special needs. She would do best in a home without children. She would do best with someone who can be patient with her barking and has the motivation to continue training her. "
