My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/
We must have an application to move forward.

In foster in Olympia, WA.
TAFFY is probably a Schnauzer mix...22#s, 3 yrs old. She is very sweet and affectionate. She loves other dogs and leaves my cats alone. We are working on house training. She loves to sleep with me...in my arms...and will roll over and look up at me with the most pleased look on her face. You can't help but love her.

Taffy came to me with a limp. After x-rays of her right rear leg, the vet suspected she had been hit by a car and the femoral head fractured. We had an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) performed. The primary goal of an FHO is to remove bone-on-bone contact, restoring pain-free mobility. This is not an inexpensive procedure but sometimes Rescues must endure the cost to make the life better for the dog...and believe me... she is well worth it. Her recovery is complete according to the vet although she still hops. She is not in pain but she has been favoring the leg so long that she hasn't realized she can use it. We are doing some PT to strengthen the muscles and I do catch her using it when she is playing with other dogs. I have all of the medical records to support the vet's findings.

Taffy is not going to be the long-distance hiker or running a mile. She is fine and surgery and healing are complete.

Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention.

Adoption Fees
The adoption fee includes transportation to WA/OR. All pups and dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, have a negative heart worm test for all dogs over 6 months at time of transport, have a health certificate, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations. Some dogs/pups have additional medical, including but not limited to FHO, ACL, hernias, dental, and other vetting.

All medical records will be provided to the adopter at the time they pick up their dog.

HOW ABOUT FOSTERING! If you are not in the position to afford a puppy/dog but still want to be an important factor in dog rescue, we recommend fostering. Fostering ensures you incur no vet bills and no boarding fees while saving a life and enjoying the love of a canine companion. We are always in need of good fosters. You can sign up to foster at this link: https://shaynesrescue.com/foster-application/

This is a post on behalf of Pet Central SATX Rescue, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, where there are over 350,000 homeless pets. We have hundreds of puppies/dogs available so there really is no need to apply anywhere else. Also, one application is good even if you are interested in several different dogs...one application no matter which one you choose.

Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog. We firmly believe there is NO breed other than "rescue" for all species. Thank you for being part of the village it takes to save these precious lives.
