My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Major
Happy Major is a delight. We rescued this little nugget from a high kill shelter. He is such a sweetie, how did he ever end up homeless? We couldn’t wait to welcome him to the safety of our shelter.
Major looks to be a one-year-old shepherd/hound mix if you go by markings. If you go by personality, he’s just a wonderfully loving and happy boy. Major weighs 35 lbs. so he’s not very big. But he is super smart. Major eagerly wants to be with his people. He loves attention. Major has good puppy energy, but it’s not overwhelming. He loves being in the yard and enjoys his walks. Major will need a fenced in yard to keep him safe. Major seems to like female dogs and wants to play with them, but he is a little cautious with male dogs so it will be important for him to meet any future companions. He does not like cats and will need to be in a home without them. He is a fun young dog, up for adventure.
Major would probably do well with older kids (not toddlers), but only because he could knock smaller kids down accidentally, not because he wouldn’t love to lick the crumbs off their faces. LOL! Major is all about living life and having fun doing it, showing love and kindness to those who take a chance on him, and providing endless snuggles for those he loves. Major will make for a wonderful companion and best buddy. He is a joyous young dog and makes you feel good just being with him. We hope someone adopts this boy soon so he can get on with making that person’s life just that much better.

Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
Adoptions and meet and greets are being scheduled by appointment only. Please email us or complete an application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can.
