Available in Kennesaw, GA - Jake is a true gentleman with rugged good looks and a heart of gold. At 7 years old, his world was turned upside down with the passage of his Dad. Like a Cinderella story, his stepmother did not wish to continue to care for Jake and surrendered him to ASF.
This red-tri Australian Shepherd is ready for adoption! He is a bundle of cuddles weighing in at 50 lbs. Jake is housebroken, but not crate-trained. He knows his basic obedience commands, but can be a bit hesitant to execute them. He rides nicely in the car and loves to go for walks but does occasionally pull on the leash.
Jake adores people, but can be a bit shy when he first meets someone new. Once he knows you are a friend, Jake is all smiles and cuddles and wiggly butt! He is a medium Velcro dog who enjoys being around his people but does not get underfoot. Jake loves going for walks and car rides, but he is also very happy just napping and cuddling up on the couch.
He is not very playful with other dogs and can be rather grumpy about them getting into his personal space - he is more of a "coexistence dog" who will play some when outside but may be happiest as an only child, so for this reason we don't recommend dog parks.
The ideal family for Jake is easygoing and laid back. A fenced yard is ideal, an easygoing, “peaceful coexistence” dog pal is welcome, and any children in the home should be 10 years old and older. Jake is a big teddy bear with a big heart. If you are looking for a best friend to take relaxing walks with and cuddle with, he is your man.
Jake is up to date on his vaccines, neutered, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea and tick prevention, and is microchipped. Jake is being fostered in Kennesaw, GA, and a meet and greet is required with any potential adopter and his foster family.
