My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Garfield. My stunt double has a pretty famous quote, "I never met a lasagna I didn't like". I actually want to change 'lasagna' to person though. People are legitimately my favorite thing, then pets, then food.

Like my famous counterpart, I was a lonely scared stray. I was rescued, thankfully, and I've warmed up nicely to the indoor life. I'm a big boy now and I have the cutest primordial pouch you've ever seen.

Here's some very important things to know about me: I like sharing my food, but if I'm left by myself to eat, I will eat too fast and get sick. My foster parent remedied this by giving me a slow feeder and it doesn't bother me one bit! My foster parent told me it's not surprising I eat so fast, after all, food was hard to come by on the streets. I love calm cats and dogs. I like to groom cats. You see, I'm a bit motherly. I liked bathing my elderly kitty friend, but she passed away recently and at first I missed her very much. Now, I've adjusted to the solo-cat life so if you only want one cat, I may be your guy. I'm flexible!

My foster parent is telling me my bio is getting too long, so I have a couple more things to say that are still important: I'm a gentle giant and I love night time cuddling. I need patience with my forever home because I'm quite timid, but I'm never mean! It took me 24 hours to warm up to my foster home. If you want to see more of me, put in an application, or go see our rescue's Facebook page!

More about this rescue

Who We Are
2 Paws Up started in early 2007 as a small group helping to transport animals from the Harnett County Shelter to people who wanted to adopt but could not make it there themselves.

Since then, we have expanded our services to a full adoption agency. We vaccinate animals upon their arrival and get them any necessary health care, including spaying and neutering.

Any animal in our group will be spayed or neutered at the time of adoption. We cannot help the problem if animals keep mating!

We have recently been approved as a North Carolina Non-profit organization, and are waiting for our 501(c)3 paperwork to be finalized! Hooray!
Why We Are Different
As a future pet owner, you are probably looking for an adoption agency that is right for you. Each rescue group should have something that appeals to different groups of people, so everyone can find their future pet. This is why we think we are different:
• Our adoption fees vary between animals. We do not charge you for something we didn’t do. For example, if a dog came into the shelter already neutered, the cost of that neuter will NOT be included in his adoption fee.
• Our main focus is shelter pets. Most rescue groups focus on stray animals before they end up in the shelter. We try to help as many animals that are in imminent danger of being put down. We do accept animals from elsewhere as well, but high-kill shelters are our main focus.
