My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wednesday von Addams is a beautiful 10 week old German Shepherd puppy.

Hi I’m Wednesday and I am just 10 weeks old. Just a few days ago, someone abandoned me in the desert and I was so scared and hungry! Then a nice lady came and picked me up and told me I was going to a great place called Westside. I didn’t know what that was, but anything would be better than to be cold and so very hungry. When I got to Westside, I couldn’t believe all the nice people who were there to give me cuddles, a nice warm place to lay down and food, oh boy was the food yummy! Then a nice lady came to pick me up and she whispered in my ear that she was my foster mommy and would take care of me until I found my forever home. I was so tired from all the activity, that I fell asleep in her car on the way home. When I got to her house I was greeted by 2 very big German Shepherds, and I was scared at first and barked, but when I realized they were nice, I just followed them around and gave them kisses. They told me not to worry because I would have a warm place to sleep every night and all the food I wanted! I couldn’t believe my good luck. Now I love to snuggle with them and chase them in the yard or just take a nap next to them. My foster mommy calls me such a good girl because I potty where I am supposed to outside, but sheesh why would I want to potty inside her nice house!?!?! I’m still teething and sometimes I like to use my foster mommy as a teething toy, but when she squeaks really loud, I know I am not supposed to do that and I am learning that toys and bully sticks are for me to chew. I would love a family of my own so I never have to worry about being abandoned again and always have a full tummy. Will you be my forever family?

Wednesday von Addams is in a foster home, offsite, and is NOT at our rescue location in Los Angeles.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
