My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This shy girl came to us by way of Lee County Domestic Animal Services as they were running low on space. We often pull dogs from other shelters the don’t have the luxury of time that we do at ARC.

When Larkin came to us, she was diagnosed with Heartworm disease. We spent a great deal of time and money to rid her of this terrible disease. She is now healthy and ready to go to a home! Since Larkin can be shy, it would be best if she could go to a quiet home with a family that could work to slowly bring her out of her shell. Staff has been slowly socializing her with other dogs. She has also been “cat tested” and it appears that she’s even afraid of cats!

Do you have the time and love to invest in this sweet, shy pup? Why not come out to meet her today?!

My ideal home:
I need a quiet, loving home where I can grow more confident and feel secure again...

More about this rescue

The Animal Refuge Center (ARC) of Fort Myers is a not for profit animal welfare society dedicated to stopping the escalating cost to impound, care for, kill and dispose of dogs and cats dying for no reason other than having been born. ARC is helping to cut the large numbers of homeless animals which eventually cuts the costs to taxpayers, which to date has reached over half a million dollars a year.

ARC is a non-euthanasia organization. Once we accept an animal for adoption, IT WILL NOT BE DESTROYED TO MAKE ROOM FOR ANOTHER. We are here to help the unwanted and neglected animals who now face certain death.
