My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there! My name's Buddy, a spunky black lab born in February 2022. Life threw me a curveball early on, and I wasn't walking by 4 weeks old. My amazing foster mom took me in at 5.5 months, and together we started my journey to recovery.

My back legs needed some TLC. My right leg had almost no muscle and wouldn't bend, so I swung it around. But my left leg is my champion – it's got more muscle and movement. Since then, I've had some physical therapy, including lots of toe wiggling and playful games (I may have licked my foster mom's face a few times – it's ticklish!). The experts say keeping my left leg moving is key, and maybe even a professional therapist could help me!

I can walk/hop pretty well when I take it slow, but sometimes my excitement gets the best of me, and I scoot around like a happy wiggle worm.

Here's the thing: because of my walking challenges, I'm not potty trained yet. My foster mom has figured out a cute trick – my tail sticks straight out when I gotta go potty, so she has a few seconds to help me out. Most of the time, I don't quite realize I need to go, and I just keep on moving. Plus, slippery floors are a no-go for me unless I have a good grip with my back leg. Stairs are okay, but I might need a hand going down (those rails can be tricky!).

But here's the best part: My spirit is unstoppable! I shower everyone with love, from kids and adults to playful pups (haven't met any cats yet). I bark in my kennel – for attention, food time, bathroom breaks, and just because! So I shouldn't go somewhere with shared walls.

Car rides are a breeze, as long as I'm safely tethered or crated. Oh, and I come with a special "Help Em Up" harness for all our future adventures!

So, what do you say? Are you ready to open your heart and home to a special needs pup with a heart of gold?
