My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Prancer
The interviewer lady (IL) remembers seeing me when I was just a 10-week-old kitten surrendered to HSHC because my owner had too many animals. I was adopted in December of 2022 but was returned on February 18, 2024. Here is my side of the story. I am 1.5-years-old now. At some point, my family adopted two new kittens, bringing the total number of cats in the house to five. We had only three litterboxes for all five of us, in a 1600 square foot home. I couldn't handle the stress! Stress is a major contributing factor to developing UTIs and painful crystals. I am now on a diet designed to prevent crystals from forming, and I feel so much better. Today, when the IL opened my door, I happily approached her for pets and scratches. I am an affectionate girl who prefers to eat when I have a loved one nearby. Here, they call that affection eating. I need a new home to provide me with everything I need to feel confident, calm, and comfortable. Maybe you'd like to do so. 3-18-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
