My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet adoptable Diego!

~ GENDER: Male

~ AGE: 3 years

~ WEIGHT: 57 lbs

~ BREED: Pit Bull mix

~ TEMPERAMENT: Diego has a long list of awesome qualities ... friendly, intelligent, affectionate, loyal, and playful to name a few. Diego is so eager to become a best friend to someone willing to give him a chance. He is super smart, very trainable, and very personable. He’s still young so he still has quite a bit of energy. He loves going for long walks, hikes, or any type of outdoor adventures. Waves are highly interesting and exciting, so water is not a problem! He likes to play and be goofy, but will also be happy just laying around being lazy and hanging out. He does great on a leash and never pulls. If you stop to talk to someone, he will just sit next to you and chill while you chat. His grateful, loving gaze will surely melt your heart. He is a wonderful, loyal friend who just needs that special person to share his life with.

~ ENERGY: Medium-high.

~ DOG FRIENDLY: Ok with female dogs. Selective (not always friendly) with male dogs. He has a dominant type of personality around other pooches.

~ CAT FRIENDLY: No.

~ KID FRIENDLY: Yes.

~ GOOD ON LEASH: Yes.

~ GOOD IN CAR: Yes.

~ HOUSE TRAINED: Yes.

~ BARKING: Minimal.

~ SHEDDING: Minimal.

~ ANY AGGRESSION: No, Diego loves humans of all ages!

~ MEDICAL: Neutered, de-wormed, has all vaccines including rabies. He’s a healthy boy.

~ RESCUE HISTORY: Diego was abandoned in the streets of Ajijic, Mexico. He hung around outside a local shop because the owners often fed him. But some customers were afraid of Diego, even though he is not an aggressive dog. The shop owners feared they would lose customers so they tried very hard to find a home for Diego. He moved in with a foster family in Ajijic temporarily but unfortunately they could not keep him long term. His fosters rented a space at a horse stable for Diego to stay for the time being, until a new foster or permanent home can be found. Diego is well cared for, exercised daily, and safe from the dangers of the streets. But he is still longing for a home & family of his own.

~ A MESSAGE FROM DIEGO'S CARETAKERS: Diego is a very special dog. He is so eager to belong somewhere and to be someone's best pal. He loves to keep you company, even if it's just hanging out doing nothing. He is loyal and bonds quickly & strongly with his people. Diego has a silly goofy side too - he loves to play, chase squirrels, and wrestle with cardboard boxes. He enjoys his walks very much and he's fantastic on the leash. Not to mention he is super handsome and gets tons of compliments when out for walks. Because he tends to be dominant with other dogs, he would do best as an only dog. If you decide to adopt this boy, I guarantee you'll fall in love with him and he will be the very best companion.
