My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET WHIM (& DAPHNE ) Whim was a feral kitten trapped from part of a large colony where a devoted volunteer was repeatedly trapping. Whim was one of hundreds of R.E.A.L Cruzan Cats TNVR's trapped with the intent to neuter, vaccinate, & return to where he was found. But Whim didn't "read the book". Instead he gave us a scare that would ultimately change the course of his life. For reasons unknown, Whim did not handle his anesthesia well. The medical team managed to get him through surgery, but he was not stable. He was given supportive care but was not responding. He needed 24 hr care with no guarantee of his survival. His guardian was called & she stated she was in no position to give him the care he needed & agreed to give us permission to try. So home with foster mom Michelle he went. At about 9:00 that night he was able to briefly sit up. His breathing was labored but he took a few licks of baby food. She took advantage of him being too weak to fight & held & pet him often. After 3 days she could tell his caretaker that he was doing much better. His appetite had picked up & where he only wanted to lay in foster mom's lap or on his blanket, today he wanted to get up & explore. Day 4 he was breathing easier & more energetic, grooming himself. On day 5 when his breathing was normal she told his guardian he no longer needed nursing care but felt that he was compromised & should be kept indoors where he didn't have to compete for food. We needed to insure that he was getting enough calories & nutrients & monitor him for any signs of a relapse. She replied that she loved him & wanted him to have a good, long life. She couldn't give him what he needed & agreed to let him stay with foster mom until RCC could find him a good home. He is a beautiful kitten inside & out! He has "flame point" markings on his ears & tail & the most soothing powder blue eyes. He is a cautious boy. He's heard that "curiosity killed the cat" & he takes no chances. He has been with us several months now and he's just wonderful! And very bonded to Daphne. They are spayed/neutered, combo tested negative, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Whim has had a bit of a rough time with his immune system even after the first few weeks, so he is semi-special needs - he is likely going to need medication for most of his life, but we have had him checked out by several vets including specialists, they haven't been able to actually diagnose anything - he's just got a weak immune system. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application at http://www.realcruzancats.org/#adopt - thank you! ADOPTION FEE FOR THIS BONDED PAIR Waived for the right home.
