My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a mighty special boy who is NOT special needs despite only having 3 legs. Oscar is missing his front right leg and it does not slow him down at all. His foster mom takes him on long walks daily and he loves them. If she gets busy and does not take him, he whines at hurt like his feelings are really hurt.

He jumps into the van by himself and he loves to go on rides, really he barks if she loads up another dog and does not take Oscar. The foster mom tries to give all of the dogs equal time in the love and attention area. Oscar went riding in a subdivision where the Christmas lights were plentiful and he loved it, he rode and looked at the lights as if he were a real 2-legged little boy.

So it is safe to say that Oscar's foster mom spoils him and gives him more attention and love because we feel he deserves it. Oscar is 4 years old and 60 pounds. All he knew all his life was being chained up in someone's yard. Oscar got tired of it and chewed through his cable chain and got loose. Something horrible happened to him but he made his way back home. The foster mom lives on the same street so the owners called her over and begged her to help him. She called me and Roxy's K-9 Rescue took him to the vet where they cleaned him up immediately and assessed the situation. There was so much damage that they only option was to amputate his leg. If you would like to see his wound pictures, I can email them to you.

Oscar is now a Roxy's K-9 Rescue dog as the owners surrendered him not wanting a tri-pod dog. But nothing is wrong with him, Oscar has no disabilities or special needs except to need love and a safe, happy home.

He gets along with all of the dogs that are in the home, big and small. He does not bother them and they do not bother him. He is more focused on hanging out and following his foster mom around. He is completely healed from his amputation, no medications or special instructions are required for him.

Wouldn't you like a warm loving guy who is not destructive and appreciates a good home? There is another video of him playing with a toy that I can provide.

We transport across the United States. Thank you.

More about this rescue

We are a home based foster rescue organization, we do not have a shelter. All of our dogs are in private foster homes where they are healthy and socially active. We are better able to explain their personality and behavior.
We rescue dogs from the streets of San Antonio, Texas who have been dumped and abandoned as well as pull them from our very high kill city shelter. We also rescue dogs from surrounding counties and take owner surrenders.
We rescue dogs because of the passion in our hearts to help the voiceless when they need help the most. We are rewarded with great, happy and grateful dogs.
