This handsome boy is Buzz, a 9 month old, 31 lb. Portuguese Podengo. Podengo’s are intelligent and lively dogs that were bred for hunting and often excel at agility.
Buzz came to foster care after being found wandering alone outside in central MA. He has some separation anxiety, but this has improved in his foster home.
Buzz loves his humans and other dogs. He is a fun loving puppy who enjoys spending time outside with an active companion. He can entertain himself throwing toys in the air, catching them and doing zoomies. But he would much rather play with you!
Buzz is completely housebroken. He goes right to the door and scratches when he needs to go out! He also sleeps well in his crate at night and can be crated during the day after he has had plenty of exercise.
Buzz has been living in a foster home with a cat and has been getting along well with her now that he is comfortable in the home. Buzz still exhibits many puppy behaviors like chewing, mouthing and pulling on the leash, so his forever family will need to continue his training to help him become the best dog he can be. We think he would do best in home with dog savvy children aged 8 or older.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
